San Diego workers’ compensation lawyer proud to lead statewide organization
SAN DIEGO (September 14, 2018) – San Diego workers’ compensation attorney Robert A. McLaughlin of the McLaughlin & Sanchez was elected President of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA).
“I am honored to be chosen to serve as the leader of this prestigious organization dedicated to demanding justice for workers throughout California,” McLaughlin said. “CAAA serves a valuable role in our society in protecting injured workers' rights and as President of the organization’s Executive Board, I will work tirelessly to promote the best interests of injured workers and their families.”
Attorney McLaughlin was sworn in as President of CAAA’s Executive Board on Sept. 14, 2018. He succeeded previous CAAA President Jason Marcus.
Founded in 1966, CAAA was created to help “Californians that get hurt on the job heal and get back to work." Members of CAAA represents more than 25,000 union members every year and are an advocate for injured immigrant workers. CAAA is also an affiliate with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) California Public Affairs Council and has 18 chapters throughout the State of California.
Headquartered in Sacramento, CAAA has an active presence in California’s State Capitol. CAAA, through its member representatives and staff, attends all Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation (CHSWC) meetings in Oakland and all hearings on proposed regulations affecting injured workers. CAAA also regularly sponsors and organizes conventions and seminars for attorneys, physicians, employers, and the insurance industry to understand current laws and best practices.
McLaughlin has more than 25 years of experience in workers’ compensation law. His firm also practices in the area of the Longshore Act, Defense Base Act, Non-Appropriated Funds Act, SSDI claims, personal injury, employment law, and wage and hour claims. McLaughlin also previously served as President of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association’s San Diego County Chapter. In addition, he’s a published academic and a distinguished lecturer on the rights of injured workers.
